writing on ellipsus

In an effort to get off social media and correct my brain's attention span, I've tried to set aside blocks of time where I am just creating something. Whether it is working on a painting or working on this site, I want to give my brain a break from endlessly scrolling until I pass out. Recently, I've been having an urge to make video essays. I don't know why but I've just been seeing a lot of people on my FYP talking about just starting a YouTube channel and just posting whatever whenever. And while trying to think up content to post everyday sounds utterly exhausting, I think taking time to create long-form video essays sounds pretty fun. My notes app is full of video essay ideas, but I wanted to try my hand at making some kind of script or outline.

I am also trying to de-Google-ify my life as much as possible. I already switched from Chrome to Firefox and Google to Ecosia, but I was looking for alternatives from the G-Suite. I've been using LibreOffice for most of my writing, but I had heard about the web app Ellipsus and figured that this would be a good chance to try it out... and as I am typing this I realize this sounds a bit like an ad but I promise that this is just me talking about a cool site.

Which you should definitely check out because it's pretty cool.

Right now, I am in the middle of writing a video essay about an album I really enjoy. I've only talked about it with a few other people and have been dying to dive further into it. Ellipsus is pretty basic layout and feature wise but I really like the themes it has and the workflow it offers. I kind of enjoy how bare bones it is because it helps me focus better on what I'm writing. It's been really fun to write again. I had a lot of short stories and small ramblings gathering dust in my file explorer so this was a good excuse to 1. move them off my hard drive, and 2. polish some of the drafts. Ellipsus recently introduced a feature that lets you import files with the .docx extension, which made things a lot easier in terms of transferring my works.

I'll keep y'all posted with updates to the video essay and possible YouTube production, and also my thoughts with Ellipsus but for now I'm really enjoying it :P
